"Good morning, everybody. I wanted to take just a few minutes to update the American people on the attempted terrorist attack that occurred on Christmas Day and the steps we're taking to ensure the safety and security of the country.

The investigation's ongoing. And I spoke again this morning with Attorney General Eric Holder, the secretary of homeland security, Janet Napolitano, and my counterterrorism and homeland security adviser, John Brennan. I asked them to keep -- continue monitoring the situation to keep the American people and members of Congress informed.

Here's what we know so far: On Christmas Day, Northwest Airlines Flight 253 was en route from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Detroit. As the plane made its final approach to Detroit Metropolitan Airport, a passenger allegedly tried to ignite an explosive device on his body, setting off a fire.

Thanks to the quick and heroic actions of passengers and crew, the suspect was immediately subdued, the fire was put out, and the plane landed safely. The suspect is now in custody and has been charged with attempting to destroy an aircraft.

A full investigation has been launched into this attempted act of terrorism, and we will not rest until we find all who were involved and hold them accountable.

Now, this was a serious reminder of the dangers that we face and the nature of those who threaten our homeland. Had the suspect succeeded in bringing down that plane, it could have killed nearly 300 passengers and crew, innocent civilians preparing to celebrate the holidays with their families and friends.

The American people should be assured that we are doing everything in our power to keep you and your family safe and secure during this busy holiday season.

Since I was first notified of this incident, I've ordered the following actions to be taken to protect the American people and to secure air travel.

First, I directed that we take immediate steps to ensure the safety of the traveling public. We made sure that all flights still in the air were secure and could land safely. We immediately enhanced screening and security procedures for all flights, domestic and international. We added federal air marshals to flights entering and leaving the United States. And we're working closely in this country, federal, state and local law enforcement, with our international partners.

Second, I've ordered two important reviews, because it's absolutely critical that we learn from this incident and take the necessary measures to prevent future acts of terrorism.

The first review involves our watch list system, which our government has had in place for many years to identify known and suspected terrorists so that we can prevent their entry into the United States. Apparently the suspect in the Christmas incident was in this system, but not on a watch list, such as the so-called no-fly list. So I have ordered a thorough review, not only of how information related to the subject was handled, but of the overall watch list system and how it can be strengthened.

The second review will examine all screening policies, technologies and procedures related to air travel. We need to determine just how the suspect was able to bring dangerous explosives aboard an aircraft and what additional steps we can take to thwart future attacks.

Third, I've directed my national security team to keep up the pressure on those who would attack our country. We do not yet have all the answers about this latest attempt, but those who would slaughter innocent men, women and children must know that the United States will more -- do more than simply strengthen our defenses. We will continue to use every element of our national power to disrupt, to dismantle and defeat the violent extremists who threaten us, whether they are from Afghanistan or Pakistan, Yemen or Somalia, or anywhere where they are plotting attacks against the U.S. homeland.

Finally, the American people should remain vigilant, but also be confident. Those plotting against us seek not only to undermine our security, but also the open society and the values that we cherish as Americans. This incident, like several that have preceded it, demonstrates that an alert and courageous citizenry are far more resilient than an isolated extremist.

As a nation, we will do everything in our power to protect our country. As Americans, we will never give in to fear or division. We will be guided by our hopes, our unity, and our deeply held values. That's who we are as Americans; that's what our brave men and women in uniform are standing up for as they spend the holidays in harm's way. And we will continue to do everything that we can to keep America safe in the new year and beyond.

Before I leave, let me also briefly address the events that have taken place over the last few days in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The United States joins with the international community in strongly condemning the violent and unjust suppression of innocent Iranian citizens, which has apparently resulted in detentions, injuries, and even death.

For months, the Iranian people have sought nothing more than to exercise their universal rights. Each time they have done so, they have been met with the iron fist of brutality, even on solemn occasions and holy days. And each time that has happened, the world has watched with deep admiration for the courage and the conviction of the Iranian people who are part of Iran's great and enduring civilization.

What's taking place within Iran is not about the United States or any other country. It's about the Iranian people and their aspirations for justice and a better life for themselves. And the decision of Iran's leaders to govern through fear and tyranny will not succeed in making those aspirations go away.

As I said in Oslo, it's telling when governments fear the aspirations of their own people more than the power of any other nation.

Along with all free nations, the United States stands with those who seek their universal rights. We call upon the Iranian government to abide by the international obligations that it has to respect the rights of its own people.

We call for the immediate release of all who have been unjustly detained within Iran. We will continue to bear witness to the extraordinary events that are taking place there. And I'm confident that history will be on the side of those who seek justice.

A Bill Before Congress would prohibit ownership of handguns by those who have not obtained firearm licenses. Basically this legislation would make it illegal to own a firearm - any with a clip or ANY pistol unless it is registered:

You must supply a current Driver's License
You must supply your Social Security #
You will submit to a physical; mental evaluation at anytime of their choosing
Each update - change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported & costs $25 Failure results in automatically losing the right to own firearms are subject up to a year jail time.
There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 30; stating a child-access provision. Gun must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18. The Government would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. in prison.

President Barack Obama and the Democrat controlled Congress are considering sweeping legislation that will provide new benefits for many Americans. The Americans With No Abilities Act (AWNAA) is being hailed as a major legislative goal by advocates of the millions of Americans who lack any real skills or ambition.

"Roughly 50 percent of Americans do not possess the competence and drive necessary to carve out a meaningful role for themselves in society," said California Senator Barbara Boxer - Democrat. "We can no longer stand by and allow People of Inability (POI) to be ridiculed and passed over. With this legislation, employers will no longer be able to grant special favors to a small group of workers, simply because they have some idea of what they are doing."

Under AWNAA, more than 25 million mid-level positions will be created, with important-sounding titles but little real responsibility, thus providing an illusory sense of purpose and performance.

Mandatory non-performance-based raises and promotions will be given so as to guarantee upward mobility for even the most unremarkable employees. The legislation provides substantial tax breaks to corporations that promote a significant number of Persons of Inability into middle-management positions, and gives a tax credit to small and medium-sized businesses that agree to hire one clueless worker for every two talented hires.

Finally, the AWNAA contains tough new measures to make it more difficult to discriminate against the non-abled, banning, for example, discriminatory interview questions such as, "Do you have any skills or experience that relate to this job?"

"As a Non-abled person, I can't be expected to keep up with people who have something going for them,"said Mary Lou Gertz, who lost her position as a lug-nut twister at the GM plant in Flint , Michigan , due to her inability to remember rightey tightey, lefty loosey."This new law should be real good for people like me," Gertz added. With the passage of this bill, Gertz and millions of other untalented citizens will finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Said Senator Dick Durbin (Democrat-IL), "As a Senator with no abilities, I believe the same privileges that elected officials enjoy ought to be extended to every American with no abilities. Sen. Dodd says he'll refinance Countrywide loans

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd says he'll refinance two mortgages that he received through a VIP program from Countrywide Financial Corp.

Dodd told reporters Monday that the mortgages for his homes in Washington and East Haddam, Conn., will be refinanced with a different company.

Dodd has acknowledged receiving mortgages in 2003 through a VIP program at Countrywide, which was sold to Bank of America Corp. earlier this year and has been the focus of allegations that it gave favorable loan terms to lawmakers.

Dodd says he's moving the loans in part because he was wrongfully labeled a friend of Countrywide's former CEO, Angelo Mozilo. Dodd says he never sought special treatment.

The chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, Dodd says a third party will be involved in choosing the new bank.

Daschle apologizes for failing to pay taxes

WASHINGTON (AP) - Trying to salvage his nomination, Tom Daschle apologized Monday for delinquent tax payments as President Barack Obama and a top Senate chairman stood by him as the choice to lead the Health and Human Services Department.

Following a weekend of revelations about taxes and potential ethical conflicts, Daschle expressed remorse to the Senate Finance Committee, the panel that will decide his fate, saying he was "deeply embarrassed and disappointed" about failing to pay more than $120,000 in back taxes.

Obama, speaking to reporters, said he was "absolutely" supporting his Cabinet choice. Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., chairman of the Senate panel, said he backed Daschle's confirmation. The expression of support from Baucus came hours before Daschle was scheduled to meet with the committee and despite a less than amicable relationship between the two men.

Daschle wrote a letter to the top leaders of the Finance Committee. The letter, released Monday, sought to explain how he overlooked taxes on additional income for consulting work and the use of a car service. He also deducted more in charitable contributions than he should have.

Daschle recently filed amended tax returns for 2005-07 to report $128,203 in back taxes and $11,964 in interest.

"I am deeply embarrassed and disappointed by the errors that required me to amend my tax returns," said Daschle, the former Senate Democratic leader. "I apologize for the errors and profoundly regret that you have had to devote time to them."

In the letter dated Feb. 1, Daschle provided a timeline for when the errors were discovered and tax payments made.

Uncertain is whether the tax issue will stall or derail Daschle's nomination.

"The ability to advance meaningful health reform is my top priority in confirming a secretary of Health and Human Services, and I remain convinced that Senator Daschle would be an invaluable and expert partner in this effort. I am eager to move forward together," Baucus said in his statement.

Daschle and Baucus have had tussles in the past over Baucus' handling of former President George W. Bush's 2001 tax cut proposals, the Medicare prescription drug bill in 2003 and trade legislation. Baucus has shown a greater willingness to negotiate with Republicans than most Democrats.

Daschle was an early supporter of Obama's presidential bid and several of Daschle's former Capitol Hill staffers went to work for Obama after Daschle, then a South Dakota senator, lost his re-election bid in 2004.

Daschle filed the amended returns after Obama announced he intended to nominate him as secretary of Health and Human Services.

Daschle explained in his apology letter that the presidential transition team flagged charitable contributions they concluded were deducted in error. When his accountant realized amended tax returns would need to be filed, he suggested addressing another matter that Daschle raised with him earlier in the year: whether the use of a car service provided by a close friend and business associate, Leo Hindery, should be reported as income.

The unreported income for that car service totaled more than $250,000 over three years.

At about the same time, Hindery's company informed Daschle's accountant of a clerical error it made on a form it provided to Daschle that he subsequently reported to the IRS. The error resulted in an additional $88,333 in unreported consulting income for 2007.

"I disclosed this information to the committee voluntarily, and paid the taxes and any interest owed promptly," Daschle wrote. "My mistakes were unintentional."

A financial disclosure form Daschle filed about a week ago shows that he made more than $200,000 in the past two years speaking to members of the health care industry that Obama wants him to reform.

The speaking fees were just a portion of the more than $5.2 million the former senator earned over the last two years as he advised health insurers and hospitals and worked in other industries such as energy and telecommunications, according to a financial statement filed with the Office of Government Ethics.

Jenny Backus, a spokeswoman for Daschle, said the money he earned in speaking fees from health care interests do not pose a conflict for the health care reform Obama wants him to lead.

"He welcomed every opportunity to make his case to the American public at large and the health industry in particular that America can't afford to ignore the health care crisis any longer," she said.

Among the health care interest groups paying Daschle for speeches were America's Health Insurance Plans, $40,000 for two speeches; CSL Behring, $30,000; the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, $16,000; and the Principal Life Insurance Co., $15,000.

2009: recession or recovery?

More evidence that this recession isn't as bad as people are making it out to be.

Frankly, this thing is probably half way over - the typical recession lasts approximately 18-months. Yes, there were tons of layoffs (some were exploited opportunties by companies), some closings (bad management or greed caused a majority of these), and house price declines (market-specific due to get-rich-quick-schemes and entitlement issues) however most people went unscathed.

That is precisely why the stimulus plan was jammed through so quickly. The libs couldn't pass legislation if we were already in recovery so let's chant 'doom and gloom' before people see the light at the end of the tunnel.

UPDATE: After discussing this topic with a friend in the logistics (freight) industry, he agreed. He pointed out the noticeable increase in trucking over the last few weeks. Granted, these aren't scientific findings, I am confident that his analysis is relatively reliable.

What I find to be the most revealing are two points:

Notice the states that aren't currently in trouble and what color would you classify them as? Red perhaps?
Reuters has chosen to ignore Alaska, a state that is run by the infamous Palin. A state that actually has a budget surplus.

If everything continues along this current path, I have every intention on moving to the North Plains. I would HATE the winters but I wouldn't miss the gummint.

Denver's U.S. attorney is expected to speak on Tuesday afternoon about the arrests of four people suspected in a possible plot to shoot Barack Obama at his Thursday night acceptance speech in Denver. All are being held on either drug or weapons charges.

One of those suspects spoke exclusively to CBS4 investigative reporter Brian Maass from inside the Denver City Jail late Monday night and said his friends had discussed killing Obama.

"So your friends were saying threatening things about Obama?" Maass asked.

"Yeah," Nathan Johnson replied.

"It sounded like they didn't want him to be president?"

"Yeah," Johnson said.

Maass reported earlier Monday that one of the suspects told authorities they were "going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using a ... rifle ... sighted at 750 yards."

Law enforcement sources told Maass that one of the suspects "was directly asked if they had come to Denver to kill Obama. He responded in the affirmative."

I don't know what about the story is wrong but something seems fishy. Yes, I'm just thinking out-loud and I do take any attempt at another's life as serious but something about this case...

She had an ulterior motive...

She KNEW what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews, (being German).

Iliana smuggled infants out in the bottom of her tool box she carried, and she carried in the back of her truck a Burlap sack, (for larger kids).

She also had a dog in the back, that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in, and out of the ghetto.

The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog, and the barking covered the kids/infants noises.

During her time and course of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants.

She was caught, and the Nazi's broke both her legs, and arms, and beat her severely.

Iliana kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out, and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard.

After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it, and reunited the family.

Most of course had been gassed.

Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes, or adopted.

Last year Iliana was up for the Nobel Peace Prize....

Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice. On June 30, I celebrate my independence day and on July 4, I celebrate America's. This year is special because it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence.

On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba and a few months later, I was in the United States to stay. That I happened to arrive in Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the story, but I digress.

I've thought a lot about the anniversary this year. The election-year rhetoric has made me think a lot about Cuba and what transpired there. In the late 1950's, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at least receptive.

When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell in love with him. They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in. When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone followed. When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said 'Praise the Lord.' And when the young leader said, 'I will be for change and I'll bring you change, everyone yelled, 'Viva Fidel!'

But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the executioner's guns went silent, the people's guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By the time everyone received their free education, it was worth nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him. By the time the change was finally implemented, Cuba had been knocked down a couple of notches to Third-World status. By the time the change was over, more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes. You can call those who made it ashore anywhere else in the world most fortunate Cubans. And now I'm back to the beginning of my story.

Luckily, we would never fall in America for a left-leaning young leader who promises change without asking, 'What change? How will you carry it out? What will it cost America?'

As part of a month-long aircraft makeover, a painted American flag was removed from the tail of Sen. Barack Obama's official campaign airplane and was replaced with the presidential candidate's trademark "O" symbol.

The refurbished 757 was unveiled to members of the news media today, 41 of whom boarded the craft and took off to meet Obama in Amman, Jordan, where the presidential candidate will stop as part of a Middle Eastern and European tour.

Obama traveled to the Mideast earlier this week on board a separate airplane.

Fox News blogger Bonny Kapp, traveling on Obama's new airplane, reported:

"The North American jet that flew Obama and his traveling crew around for much of the primary season was refurbished with new seats and power for each passenger a must on the campaign trail. And the plane that once had an American flag on its tail now sports the Obama 'O.'"

Obama's 'O' symbol is red, white and blue.

Most official U.S. government aircraft, including Air Force One, have U.S. flags on their tails.

Both Fox News and the Chicago Sun-Times posted pictures of the Obama campaign's redressed airplane, which does not have an American flag or any other U.S. national symbols on the section that sports the airplane door from which Obama and his team will enter and exit.

The airplane boasts Obama's anthem, "Change We Can Believe In" and the candidate’s website address.

The aircraft also has required identification numbers and a U.S. flag to identify the nationality of the aircraft.

According to Chicago Sun-Times reporter Lynn Sweet, the refurbished Obama aircraft features a "first class" section for the candidate and his closest advisors; several "business class" seats, and a large coach section, usually meant for the traveling press corps.

Sweet reported fruit and cheese platters greeted reporters on board the flight. Dinner options offered were beef medallions, baked tilapia or eggplant parmesan.

She wrote the Obama campaign provided overnight kits for the flight that include toothbrush, mouthwash, socks, Neutrogena body lotion and lip moisturizer, Scope mouthwash, ear plugs and a blindfold for sleeping.

Cost of Government Day (COGD) is the date of the calendar year on which the average American worker has earned enough gross income to pay off his or her share of spending and regulatory burdens imposed by government on the federal, state and local levels.

Cost of Government Day 2008

Cost of Government Day for 2008 is July 16. Working people must toil on average 197 days out of the year just to meet all costs imposed by government. In other words, the cost of government consumes 53.9 percent of national income.

Cost of Government: Trends

Cost of Government Day falls four days later in 2008 than last year’s revised date of July 12. In 2008, the average American will have to work an additional 17 days out of the year to pay off his or her cost of government compared to 2000, when the COGD was June 29.

In fact, since 1977, COGD has fallen later than July 16 in only four of those 32 years - in 1982 and 1983, and in 1992 and 1993. The driving factor for this development is the fact that all components of the cost of government – federal spending, state and local spending, and regulation – are now increasing faster than national income.

This increase in the cost of government stands in sharp contrast to at least two periods in the past thirty years: COGD fell sharply from a high of July 20 in 1992 to June 29 in 1999 and 2000. In addition, COGD declined from a record high of July 23 in 1982 to July 3 in 1989. Both of these declines resulted from a combination of restraining the growth of federal spending while the economy was booming and rapidly increasing national income.

WASHINGTON (AP) - What gets under Barack Obama's skin? Criticism of his wife, Michelle Obama.

In an interview with Glamour magazine, Obama said attacks on his wife are "infuriating." The likely Democratic presidential nominee blamed the conservative press for going after his wife as if she were the candidate. [Did I read the word "conservative before the word "press"?!?]

"If they have a difference with me on policy, they should debate me. Not her," Obama told the magazine. [Untrue. If your wife intends on campaigning for you or will be active in your presidency, she has every right to be considered in discussion.]

An Associated Press-Yahoo poll suggests Michelle Obama has higher favorable ratings than Cindy McCain, wife of presumptive Republican nominee John McCain. However, Michelle Obama's unfavorable ratings are also higher. [The second rating is more important here as people know Michelle and most don't even know Cindy.]

Michelle Obama came under fire in February when she said she was proud of her country for the first time in her adult life. She later clarified her remark, saying she has always been proud of her country and was particularly proud to see so many people involved in the political process. [Clarify all you want, you're clearly anti-American and as Malkin put it, only proud of your husband.]

Obama said the attacks are ironic because his wife is "the most quintessentially American woman I know." [You don't know a lot of women.]

Michelle Obama, 44, has worked as a lawyer and hospital executive. The couple has two daughters, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7.

The Internet has been a double-edged sword for the Obama campaign. While it's allowed them to organize supporters and raise millions of dollars, Obama said it's also provided a vehicle for rumors and myths to spread quickly. [Substitute the words "facts" and "stories" for "rumors" and "myths" because the MSM chooses not to publish most negative aspects of B. Hussein Obama.]

"It's very hard to catch up," he said. [I have a feeling it's going to get even harder...]

Glamour's editor-in-chief also interviewed McCain. Full interviews with both candidates were scheduled to appear in the magazine's October issue. [In other words, "we here at the MSM don't care at all about McCain so if you want to read about him, pound sand."]

Suspect in baby killing found in Mexico

A Milwaukee man charged in 2005 with killing his 2-month-old daughter by punching her in the stomach has been captured in Mexico, where he fled after being charged with homicide in connection with the baby's death three years ago.

Milwaukee police are working to extradite Salvador Ochoa, 33, back to Wisconsin, a department spokeswoman said this week.

Milwaukee police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz reported that Ochoa is in custody under a warrant that had been issued for second-degree reckless homicide in the December 2005 death of his daughter, Rubi Ochoa-Cervantes.

Schwartz did not have details available on when or how Ochoa was caught.

The girl died on Dec. 12, 2005, after being taken to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin where surgeons discovered she had a perforated bowel that had become necrotic. Portions of the baby's stomach, kidneys and uterus were also necrotic, according to a Milwaukee County medical examiner's report.

The child's mother told investigators at the time that Ochoa told her he had punched the girl in the stomach after she would not stop crying.

The report concluded the child's injuries were caused by blunt force abdominal trauma. Investigators found she was also treated at Children's Hospital in November of 2005 for a skull fracture a month after she was born.

A criminal complaint charging her father in the days following her death noted the child had also suffered a broken rib. If convicted, Ochoa faces up to 25 years in prison.

After fleeing, Ochoa was also charged in Milwaukee County in a second criminal case for sexual assault of a child, repeated acts, involving a girl who was 8 years old at the time.

According to a criminal complaint, the girl told authorities that her father would call her into his bedroom while he was watching pornographic films. She told police that he indecently touched her over her clothes in her genital area four times between July 2005 and December 2005.

She told police that she was afraid not to do what her father told her to do because he would hit the children in the stomach if they did not listen.

Not true at all. Hillary Clinton (and many other democrats) has been collecting money from a crook and is now paying the price. It seems as if Hsu, a man of mystery in the apparel industry, has been dumping hundreds of thousands of dollars into the DNC, primarily to the Clinton camp. No one really knows where he comes but he has a decorated past. Decorated as in brushing up with the Chinese mafia, being arrested on fraud charges, and procuring hundreds of thousands for the DNC.

Yesterday, Ben Smith cried about the Republicans profiling Hsu due to his ethnicity. I really don’t know what the problem is here. Yes, Hsu is Chinese. And yes, that makes him more suspect. Call me racist - I call it investigative.

Now not just Clinton but also all of the rats are jumping ship. Hmmmm. More reason to believe Hsu’s record isn’t so clean. To be honest though, I expect nothing less from the democrats. What bothers me is the lack of Republican pressure on the issue. Sure, statements are being made but this scandal will fizzle to the wayside with the post-Labor day blues.

Professor Olson adds:

"In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United State s is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegals and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

I'm Alive

I'd like to start out by thanking everyone who has sent me e-mails and comments concerning my lack of posting. I've been extremely busy over the past few months and honestly, it won't be slowing down until this summer. I have a lot going on right now - I began taking night classes for my second degree, I'm closing on my first home tomorrow, getting married in April, and trying to make all of my clients happy on the side. Blogging is always the first thing to go and this case is no different.

I do want to say one thing about the current political environment - I'm fed up with everyone who has abandoned the war, our President, and the party. I still support all three, more now than ever, in a time of scrutiny, lies, and liberals.

Until everything settles down, I'll be maintaining all of the blogrolls and intermittently posting. Thanks again to everyone for understanding and I look forward to posting again.

Brreitbart: Soviet monument to make way for Reagan

Opponents of Poland's former communist regime reportedly want to pay a posthumous homage to US President Ronald Reagan by erecting his statue in the place of a Soviet-era monument.

In an open letter to the mayor of the southwestern city of Katowice, the former anti-regime activists said that the staunchly anti-communist Reagan had been a "symbol of liberty," the Polish news agency PAP reported.

As a result, they said, he deserved to become the centrepiece of the city's Freedom Square, replacing a monument to the Soviet troops who drove out the occupying Nazis in 1945.

They also said that they wanted the site to be rebaptised "Ronald Reagan Freedom Square."

City hall spokesman Waldemar Bojarun said that Katowice's councillors would consider the issue.

Bojarun said that he had "enormous respect" for Reagan.

However, he said, the proposal could cost an estimated 500,000 zlotys (128,000 euros, 168,000 dollars) and the city had "other pressing needs."

There are already separate plans to erect a statue in memory of Reagan in the centre of the Polish capital, Warsaw, which would be paid-for from private funds.

Reagan, who dubbed the Soviet Union an "evil empire," is widely credited by Poles with having driven communism to the wall.

The conservative Republican made fighting communism the cornerstone of his 1980-1988 presidency, and backed Poland's Solidarity trade union after it went underground when the regime declared martial law in 1981.

Reagan died in June 2004 at the age of 93.

I've joined a new alliance in an effort to help thwart terrorism. I don't agree with all of their efforts (i.e. Ethanol) but I encourage you all to check it out:

Terror-Free Oil Initiative is dedicated to encouraging Americans to buy gasoline that originated from countries that do not export or finance terrorism.

We educate the public by promoting those companies that acquire their crude oil supply from nations outside the Middle East and by exposing those companies that do not.

We are also looking into creating a healthy debate concerning alternate methods of fuel production and consumption. According to our preliminary research there are very few oil companies that do not use Middle Eastern Oil.

We are working very hard to expand that list and you can help us do that.

NEZAHUALCOYOTL, Mexico -- Thick, doughy tortillas roll hot off the conveyor belt all day at Aurora Rosales's little shop in this congested city built on a dry lake bed east of Mexico City.
Using cooking techniques that date to the Mayan empire, Rosales has never altered her recipe. Nor did her father, grandfather or great-grandfather.

On good days, the neighbors line up for her tortillas.

But these are not good days, and sometimes hours pass without any customers.
Mexico is in the grip of the worst tortilla crisis in its modern history. Dramatically rising international corn prices, spurred by demand for the grain-based fuel ethanol, have led to expensive tortillas. That, in turn, has led to lower sales for vendors such as Rosales and angry protests by consumers.

The uproar is exposing this country's outsize dependence on tortillas in its diet -- especially among the poor -- and testing the acumen of the new president, Felipe Calderón. It is also raising questions about the powerful businesses that dominate the Mexican corn market and are suspected by some lawmakers and regulators of unfair speculation and monopoly practices.

Tortilla prices have tripled or quadrupled in some parts of Mexico since last summer. On Jan. 18, Calderón announced an agreement with business leaders capping tortilla prices at 78 cents per kilogram, or 2.2 pounds, less than half the highest reported prices. The president's move was a throwback to a previous era when Mexico controlled prices -- the government subsidized tortillas until 1999, at which point cheap corn imports were rising under the NAFTA trade agreement. It was also a surprise given his carefully crafted image as an avowed supporter of free trade.

I've come across this a few times in my in-box but thought I'd post it on the chance that it may be new to a few:

For those who didn't know about history...
Here is a condensed version...

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:

1. Liberals; and
2. Conservatives.

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery.

That's how villages were formed.

Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement.

Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q's and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.

Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as girlie-men. Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.

Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass.

Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare. Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn't fair to make the pitcher also bat.

Conservatives drink domestic beer. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, Marines, and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.

Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America. They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.

Here ends today's lesson in world history: It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above before forwarding it. A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this history that it will beforwarded immediately to other true believers and to more liberals just to piss them off.

Well, the anti-McCain brigade is gaining ground and Little Miss Chatterbox has posted a phenomenal piece on why McCain should not be our Republican nominee. I've extracted a little piece and pasted it below but I encourage you all to read the entire post here. The following piece is one of the six reasons why McCain doesn't deserve the nomination:

"2) He was the head of the backstabbing gang of 14. I cannot even begin to tell you how this incident made my blood boil. One of the reasons I was so concerned about the outcome of the elections in 2000 & 2004 was because judicial nominees are so important. I had been just sick about how the Democrats were filibustering all the nominees and not even letting them come to the floor for a vote. The word on the street was that the Republicans were going to go with the "nuclear option" or the "constitutional option" as Rush termed it. I was so excited that finally there would be no more obstruction and filibustering. Right before it was to happen I see the breaking news that McCain and 13 other senators have come up with this ridiculous compromise where as always the Republicans do all the compromising. Ever since that day the phrase "Over my dead body will John McCain get the Republican nomination" often comes out of my mouth."

John McCain and Rudy Giulian have been the front-runners for the Republican ticket since the 2008 presidency talks began. McCain and Giuliani, both moderates at best, are currently our strongest choices for the presidency. Some conservatives are beginning to realize and voice their views - including Christian leader James Dobson.

Recently, Dobson has openly admitted his "dislike" for McCain and I commend him:

"Speaking as a private individual, I would not vote for John McCain under any circumstances," said James Dobson, founder of the Colorado Springs-based Focus on the Family as well as the Focus Action cultural action organization set up specifically to provide a platform for informing and rallying constituents.

Dobson, who always is careful to note that he's not speaking for the non-profit ministry, which cannot advocate for or against candidates legally, also doesn't hesitate to state his personal opinions on social or political issues and agendas.

Several times he's talked to Republicans, the traditionally conservative political party, about the need to maintain the values of that large part of the U.S. population, or lose the support of those people.

Dobson is making the right move by stomping out this 'brush fire' early. Neither McCain nor Giuliani should be our choice for the Republican ticket. Dobson is obviously expressing his opinion but more importantly, this opinion is based on facts. McCain is a RINO and nothing more - a victory for McCain would be a victory for the Democrats. It is well known fact that McCain has done more work with Feingold (D-AlQaeda) than any Republican.

Let's stomp out this fire together and consider true conservatives for the presidency in 2008, not RINOs like Giuliani or McCain. Let's look for a conservative that will defend our country inside and out. A conservative with values and objectives that hold true to the majority of the United States including:

- Saving and reforming Social Security for current and future generations;

- Providing tax relief to working families through ending the marriage penalty and providing marginal tax rate reductions;

- Reforming and streamlining the way the federal government does business;

- Making the federal tax code flatter, simpler and fairer;

- Fighting to protect the most vulnerable in our society: the unborn, the weak, the elderly, and the disabled;

- Ensuring that America continues an aggressive war on terror;

- Guarding against the erosion of our freedoms and right to govern ourselves.

With all that said, Neo-Con* Tastic's official choice for the Republican nomination will be a true "Reagan Republican", Sam Brownback.

Stem Cell Research - Now safe for babies too!

The Vatican is in support of a new form of stem-cell research:

"The Vatican on Tuesday welcomed a new way of extracting stem cells that does not use human embryos, calling it a significant advance that could help medical research without going against Roman Catholic beliefs.

Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan, head of the Vatican's Pontifical Council for Health Pastoral Care, said the discovery showed medicine can progress without destroying human embryos.

U.S. researchers reported on Sunday that stem cells found in the amniotic fluid protecting babies in the womb were nearly as powerful as embryonic stem cells in producing adaptable cells that scientists hope can someday transform medicine.

The Catholic Church and other religious groups have been staunch critics of the most common method of stem cell research, which involves extracting cells from human embryos, because they believe such organisms are humans from the moment of conception."

Of course, the liberals of the world will still want to perform stem-cell the old-fashioned way, God forbid they agree with the Catholics (pun intended).

NEW ORLEANS - With at least eight slayings in the city in the first week of the new year, officials are considering a curfew to help stem the violence, the police superintendent said Saturday.

"It's something we're just sort of talking about, to see if that will make a difference," police Superintendent Warren Riley said.

Mayor Ray Nagin, meanwhile, urged residents not to leave the city, still rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina, because of the recent killings. He said the slayings could be a tipping point that "galvanizes our community" to find solutions.

Some residents have called for a march on City Hall on Thursday to demand action to curb the violence.

Nagin and Riley both tried to reassure residents that they were doing all they can to make the city safer. Riley said some covert operations were under way and Nagin said he hoped to have details sometime next week on a "more creative, aggressive" plan developed in talks he has had with local ministers.

Riley said the slayings are a part of a chronic problem that goes back to the city's school system and what he sees as the city's failure, over many years, to adequately educate and provide job opportunities for residents.

He said he's also concerned about making sure "hard-core criminals" are prosecuted and kept in jail.

Problems will continue until there are improvements in the criminal justice system, which has struggled to get court cases moving again since Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, Riley said.

"First Lt. Ehren Watada, a 28-year-old Hawaii native, is the first commissioned officer in the U.S. to publicly refuse deployment to Iraq. He announced last June his decision not to deploy on the grounds the war is illegal.

Lt. Watada was based at Fort Lewis, Washington, with the Army's 3rd (Stryker) Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division. He has remained on base, thus avoiding charges of desertion.
He does, however, face one count of "missing troop movement" and four counts of "conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman." If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison.

Watada's court martial is on February 5. A pre-trial hearing is set for January 4, with an added scope of controversy: the Army has ordered two freelance journalists, Sarah Olson and Dahr Jamail, to testify against Lt. Watada at the hearing. Both journalists are fighting the subpoenas.

Oprah - Building Schools and Prejudice

Just recently, the $1.5 billion Oprah Winfrey opened up a "Leadership Academy" just outside of Johannesburg in South Africa. The school, primarily for 12 and 13-year old girls, is set on 22 acres of land costing roughly $40 million.

The story is being published everywhere on television and on the Internet but oddly enough, not everything from the press conference was reported in detail. During the press conference, numerous questions were asked about her motives and the school, even touching down on the fact that there was not one single white child attending the inaugural class. Now this obviously comes as a shock to most because Johannesburg is predominantly black but has a huge population of 7 million with 17% being Caucasian.

I searched long and hard for her specific quote in regards to the "white question" but will have to paraphrase with what I heard on television. When answering the question, Winfrey said something along the lines of 'I don't have to answer to the white people of this country.' It comes as a shock to me that she'd say such a thing but more importantly, how that will affect the youth attending this academy.

I feel that this comment was offensive for a few reasons but most importantly due to the context. The question simply asked 'why there weren't any white children attending the school', not 'why aren't you accommodating the whites.' Furthermore, if a rich Caucasian opened a school and only invited Caucasians, they'd immediately be branded a racist by the likes of Sharpton, Jackson, and ironically, Winfrey.

A lesson for Winfrey - If you open a "leadership academy" to youths and are commenting on the school itself, try to avoid comments that can be misconstrued by the youth you intend on molding.

Pope Gets Letter From Ahmadinejad

"VATICAN CITY -- Pope Benedict XVI received a letter Wednesday from Iran's hardline president about the recent U.N. Security Council resolution imposing sanctions against Tehran for refusing to compromise on its nuclear program, Iran's state-run news agency reported.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's letter was delivered by Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki after the pontiff's general audience at the Vatican's Paul VI hall, the Vatican said.

The Vatican did not release details of the content of Ahmadinejad's letter, but Iran's state-run IRNA news agency said the note focused on Saturday's Security Council vote approving sanctions against Iran in the standoff over its nuclear program.

It seems as if Ahmadinejad is trying to get some sympathy from the Vatican in his efforts to belittle the Bush Administration. Granted, the Vatican will stay as apolitical as possible, they should support the West's efforts to thwart any Islamic nuclear program.

I am sick and tired of these "reporters" asking unobtrusive, easy questions to tyrants:

"Why did you write your recent letter to the American people?"
"Was this a public relations exercise to improve your image, or do you really want a dialogue with the United States?"
"The Baker-Hamilton commission recommended the U.S. initiate a dialogue with you. If the Bush Administration reached out to Iran, are you ready to talk to President Bush now?"

This type of interview where an anti-Semitic, murdering dictator is put on a pedestal instead of being questioned on his Jew-hating, Islamofascist ideals. Bush, Cheney, and any current politician is virtually harassed and verbally assaulted by the press while tyrannical enemies are being indulged and praised.

The 21st century media is a joke.

The hearing examined climate change and the media. Bellow are excerpts from his prepared remarks.

"In 1995, I published a short paper in the academic journal Science. In that study, I reviewed how borehole temperature data recorded a warming of about one degree Celsius in North America over the last 100 to 150 years. The week the article appeared, I was contacted by a reporter for National Public Radio. He offered to interview me, but only if I would state that the warming was due to human activity. When I refused to do so, he hung up on me.

"I had another interesting experience around the time my paper in Science was published. I received an astonishing email from a major researcher in the area of climate change. He said, "We have to get rid of the Medieval Warm Period." "The Medieval Warm Period (MWP) was a time of unusually warm weather that began around 1000 AD and persisted until a cold period known as the "Little Ice Age" took hold in the 14th century. ... The existence of the MWP had been recognized in the scientific literature for decades. But now it was a major embarrassment to those maintaining that the 20th century warming was truly anomalous. It had to be "gotten rid of."

"In 1999, Michael Mann and his colleagues published a reconstruction of past temperature in which the MWP simply vanished. This unique estimate became known as the "hockey stick," because of the shape of the temperature graph. "Normally in science, when you have a novel result that appears to overturn previous work, you have to demonstrate why the earlier work was wrong. But the work of Mann and his colleagues was initially accepted uncritically, even though it contradicted the results of more than 100 previous studies. Recently the new nominee for the Secretary of Defense has claimed that 'he doesn't believe that we're winning in Iraq.' Here's an excerpt from Breitbart in which Gates is quoted:

Gates, 63, said he believes President Bush wants to see Iraq improve to the point where it can govern and defend itself, while seeking a new approach. "What we are now doing is not satisfactory," Gates said.

"In my view, all options are on the table, in terms of how we address this problem in Iraq," he added.

Asked point-blank by Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., whether the U.S. is winning in Iraq, Gates replied, "No, sir."

Much of the hearing's questioning focused on whether Gates would provide independent advice to Bush, and the former CIA director assured the committee that he would not shirk from that duty.

Now what I find interesting is what Drudge points out today about Tony Snow disagreeing with the situation. I find it quite odd that prior to his nomination that he's throwing the administration and Rumsfeld under the bus. Gates is lining us up for more problems if he already isn't seeing eye-to-eye with the administration.

I expect the SoD to be a loyal individual to our President and to serve him, as we would expect from an employee. We will succeed in Iraq as we are winning the battle. Wars do not last months and democracies don't grow overnight. Our success is not only covered up by the MSM but also by the liberal mouthpieces that only know how to disagree.

I'm leaving on business at the beginning of next week so I'll be "blogging lite" until next weekend. It's always nice to travel alone, meeting new people and seeing the United States from a different perspective.

With that said, I'd like to leave on a quote from Patrick Buchanan's new book, "State of Emergency," in which he talks about the current immigration issue. You can read all of Patrick Buchanan's articles here on his new website. He's quite the controversial politician and very outspoken, but he is a man of principles and very intelligent at that. Some are undoubtedly upset with him over his view of GWB and some administration policies but all in all, Buchanan is defending the conservative view and disagreements will occur.

Red China Threatening the Freedom of Taiwan

As expected, China is beginning to stockpile an arsenal aimed at Taiwan in an apparent effort to take back the country once under Chinese rule. The World Tribune reports:

China continues its planning to invade Taiwan and now has more than 900 missile targeted on the island, Taiwanese officials said last week.

"Despite China's impressive economic rise, it has become more authoritarian, posing a grave threat to our sovereignty and abusing human rights like never before," Taiwanese President Chen Shuibian said.

Mainland Affairs Council Chairman Joseph Wu also said in Taipei that China is a threat and has supported some of the world's most notorious violators of human rights.

Chinese missiles are located in five bases in nearby Fujian Province. Additionally, China now has 11 military satellites in orbit.

As mentioned before, this was totally expected but the bigger problem is our vow to the Taiwanese people. We've promised to protect their freedom at all costs and I'm curious to see what Red China intends to do about this. With the imminent battle ahead, does China give up a lucrative country like us to control a smaller area of land?

China has flexed it's muscles in the past but these types of military moves only shows their true intentions. We need the help of Japan, SKorea, and Australia to persuade China against this move.

Well, there is some house-cleaning going on, some voluntarily and some not. This is probably going to go on for a while and sadly, we may see some good people leave. I for one am not happy about Rumsfeld's leave, as I thought he was doing a fine job.

Now, it is being reported that Ken Mehlman plans on leaving the top spot of the Republican National Committee. Apparently, "...Mehlman, whose party lost both chambers of Congress in the midterm elections, will step down from his post when his two-year term ends in January, GOP officials said Thursday." This comes as a surprise because not only was he a strong leader but also because of his close relationship to Rove.

This isn't quite a resignation but we all know it's coming. Bolton's appointment is looking quite bleak with the control of both houses switching to the Democrats. He was never appointed to the UN ambassador role but only had a temporary position granted by Bush until congress reconvenes. If the Democrats get their way, which they will, Bolton will be unemployed.

I think the pins will keep falling until Dean goes back on his word...

If it weren't for all of you, this might not have happened.

Now, how does that old line go... "But I digress...."

What's more important here is what Rush had to say today: "I feel liberated..." Limbaugh feels free from defending the RINOs and the pathetic SIG controlled Republicans and obviously, I couldn't agree more. The next two years should be an epiphany for us as conservatives to realize what we've jeopardized and that we really need to make amends for 2008. This isn't a loss for the Republicans, it's a loss for the conservatives that sold themselves.

This is a time for change.

On a positive note, all of the liars that tried tricking Wisconsin voters into voting "No" failed miserably. I'm glad you invested millions of advertising dollars into lies that didn't succeed. Wisconsites have agreed with a 60% majority that marriage is defined in Wisconsin as the union of a man and a woman. Even though my state re-elected a crook for governor and a new democratic house in the state, at least we have some morality left.

"CNN International and Al Jazeera are equally bad in their coverage of the situation in Iraq," said Nerchivan Barzani, Prime Minister of Iraqi Kurdistan.

"When I was in the United States recently and read the negative news in the Washington Post, New York Times and in the network TV broadcasts, I even wondered if things had gotten so bad since I had left that I shouldn't return," said Prime Minister Barzani.

The comments came during meetings between the Prime Minister and the delegation of Gold Star Families who are on a historic trip to Iraq. These families lost a child in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and they are in Iraq now to see the progress being made that their children gave their lives for.

Yesterday they joined the people in Iraq in celebrating the GUILTY verdict handed down against the murderous former dictator of Iraq, Saddam Hussein.

These American families are on a 10-day journey to Iraq to see the land where their children died in the fight against terrorism. Never before has such a coordinated delegation of Gold Star Families visited Iraq, and their arrival comes amidst news reports that Saddam Hussein had a nuclear weapons program under development before Coalition Forces toppled his regime.

The trip is organized by the nation's largest grass-roots pro-troop organization, Move America Forward which was founded in 2004.

I've just grabbed the first few paragraphs of an article covering the Hussein trial that I noticed had a slant in favor of Hussein. This was reported on Yahoo.com and was written by Ibon Villelabeitia and Ahmed Rasheed.

"BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Three years after he gave himself up to American soldiers without firing a shot, Saddam Hussein may be condemned to hang on Sunday if an Iraqi court finds him guilty of crimes against humanity."

I don't recall anyone 'giving himself' up; we caught him in a foxhole hiding. I'm sure he would've went down in a blaze of glory if he had remembered his AK-47.

"The final act of Saddam's year-old first trial, the verdict is the high point of a historic, U.S.-sponsored experiment in international justice intended to unite Iraqis in exorcising three decades of rule by the former president, accused of mass killing and torture to keep power over Iraq's disparate people."

I love the term they use here: "U.S.-sponsored experiment." Yes, we experimented to see what would happen if we ousted the 'butcher of Baghdad' from power. We're actually applying for a grant on this experiment.

"If convicted, Saddam faces death by hanging, a prospect Shi'ite Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, with some disregard for judicial independence, has said cannot come soon enough."

Considering what happened, I don't see any problem with the PM looking forward to this case being finalized. It's not uncommon for presidential denouncements to murderers.

This is just another case of sympathizers to the Iraqi cause. It's utterly repulsive to read this "news."

Shots fired in Turkey Pope protest

This is reported on CNN.com and the whole article can be seen here. I've extracted the first few paragraphs which I feel are most important:

ISTANBUL, Turkey (CNN) -- Police say they have arrested a man who allegedly fired a pistol into the air outside the Italian consulate in Istanbul, then shouted slogans in protest of Pope Benedict XVI's upcoming visit.

The man, who was identified by police sources as Ibrahim Ak, according to CNN Turk, threw the gun on the grounds of the consulate shortly before his arrest on Thursday.

"I don't want him here, if he was here now I would strangle him with my bare hands," the suspect, who identified himself as Ibrahim Ak, 26, told a Dogan news agency television camera as he was detained by police, according to The Associated Press.

"I fired the shots for God," Ak said as he sat handcuffed inside a police van outside the consulate. "Inshallah (God willing), this will be a spark, a starter for Muslims."

"God willing, he will not come, if he comes, he will see what will happen to him Inshallah," Ak said.

If they need extra security, I'd be happy to fly over and assist in any "crowd control." This is that type of bees nest that you don't want to throw stones at.

Well, well, well. This picture is splattered all over the internet and rightfully so. I'm glad that our troops are reacting to the remarks. However, it is disheartening to know that our troops overseas have to hear the anti-war rhetoric of traitorous politicians. They now have to fight a "two-front" war, one against terrorists and the other against Bush-haters.

On the other hand, I'm happy that even thousands of miles away, our troops have the ability to express their views of these "politicians." They can show their disgust to the remarks any way they see fit, in this case on an over-sized sheet with a can of paint. Don't forget, we too have this right to express our views and in this case, it should be at the polls.

Hopefully these remarks encourage all to get out and vote. Hopefully his asinine remarks help some realize the true face of the Democratic party. In my eyes, Kerry just won the election for the GOP. He just showed his true colors and the true colors of his party. Some rats are jumping ship but for the most part, they choose to support his anti-American rhetoric.

I firmly believe that any politician who feels this way about our troops does not belong in office.

The Miami Herald reports:

Barbra Streisand's politics didn't find a wholly agreeable crowd during her Monday concert at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise.

As Babs traded political barbs with a George W. Bush imitator, a fan of the songstress who apparently disagreed with her politics pelted her with a beverage. And as her anti-GOP riff ended, another man in the crowd found himself being escorted out of the center as he shouted at Streisand.

Streisand shrugged both incidents off, saying some people would do better to buy her records than come to her shows.

A similar scenario unfolded during Streisand's concert earlier this month at Madison Square Garden in New York, during which the singer used the F-word in shouting down a heckler.

Now only if a heckler would treat Kerry that way...

Here's something that I threw together today after reading an article found on Breitbart written by AP White House Correspondent, Terence Hunt. The maroon, italicized sections are the beginning paragraphs of the actual article written about Bush's press conference today. The paragraphs following are my interpretation of what would've been written if Gore were in office. Enjoy the laughs and then realize that this probably isn't far from the truth.

I was listening to both Limbaugh and Belling (local conservative talk-show host) this afternoon and they were both really on target about the current liberal ad campaigns. As of yesterday, I thought that the ad deception of the left was perhaps a small problem but now we're learning that it's national. Apparently the new ad agency for the liberal agenda believe the most effective way to acquire a vote is to trick the audience into it.

Yesterday, I covered the vote "No" agenda that was confusing viewers in the current Wisconsin marriage amendment. This ad totally deceived the viewer into the wrong vote on claims that 'nothing will change.' Now we learn that as of late, many states have had ad campaigns done by PAC groups that are trying to deceive their viewers. This new tactic seems to be a popular trend and is happening in more than a few states on more than one situation.

Limbaugh and Belling points out the most prominent case being the lies of Michael J Fox, in both Maryland, Wisconsin, and about thirty other states (as of this posting). Fox is claiming that if we support stem-cell research candidates, we're saving his life. He apparently implies that we're 'special' to him because our states care about saving lives. Apparently, Fox believes that stem-cell research is a life-saving practice. Now in actuality, stem-cell research (or the killing of life) hasn't produced any evidence towards stopping diseases. Stem-cell research has only proved to take the lives of the embryos tested.

Furthermore, Fox is insinuating another bold-faced lie. Most Republicans support stem-cell research, including the funding of it with tax dollars. Generally, they don't believe in funding new embryonic studies. Researchers have found stem-cells in both adult bodies and in the umbilical cord of the infant following birth, sufficing the need of the tests. The problem is, liberals still want to kill new embryos and Republicans don't want to support that with our tax dollars. So is the case for Green (Republican candidate for WI governor). Fox's ad is implying that Green is anti-stem-cell research when really, that's far from the case.

Granted, I expect nothing more from the liberal agenda but I didn't think outright ad deception was a national effort. One would think that these types of efforts wouldn't be condoned, much less allowed to happen.

Gayle put it best in the comments of yesterday's post, "they know the only way they can get it passed is by fooling the public." They can't win with the facts so they lie to try and get their way into office.

Liberal lies make my blood boil.
